Come join our cast of characters as you experience Auburndale’s first City Con. The event will be held Jan. 9-10, 2015 in the city’s beautiful downtown park. After you register for the event, your name will appear on our registration list and you will be able to pick up your badge for the event Jan. 9, Friday and Jan. 10, Saturday, from the Parks and Recreation Department. To expedite your participation in the numerous activities, we recommend you pick up your badge on Jan. 9.As you navigate through our pedestrian-friendly world, we hope your extraordinary talents and invincible strength will help you battle villains in this quest to see panel discussions, gaming, double creature-feature, demonstrations and the much anticipated expo. The two-day event will culminate with a Superhero’s Ball. Everyone needs a superhero and we hope your cosplay will defend our universe.



Expo Preview (Civic Center) 4 p.m.-7p.m.
Panel discussions (Senior Center)
5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The Art of Cosplay, featuring Nadine Burns, also known as
Elsa of Auburndale. Nadine Burns has been on the convention scene since 2011.
She will demonstrate how to create great looking costumes on a budget. With a few
clothing items from thrift shops and magical alterations, you can create an
amazing costume.

6-10 p.m. Double-Creature Feature at the stage in the Downtown Park “Creature
of the Black Lagoon” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” in 3-D

Panel discussions (Senior Center)
9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. STEM: Growing Roots in a Sci-fi Universe featuring
Christina Drake, PH.D., Assistant Professor, college of engineering at Florida
Poly, Mary Carpenter, Ed.D. Director of Curriculum and programs at Florida
Poly and sci-fi authors William Hatfield and Earnest Mercer Our panelists will
discuss their love of sci-fiction fantasy and the correlation of STEM to it.
Moderated by TBA.

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Who You Going to Call? The Paranormal Fascination
featuring the Ghost Stop Crew and the Daytona Beach Ghostbusters. The panel
will discuss the interest in the supernatural and if the Historic Baynard House in
the city’s downtown park is haunted. Moderated by Dr. Paul Bearer II
1:30-2:30 p.m. Rise of the Superhero: T.M. Powell of the CW Network, Neil
Johnson, Ricardo Williams, co-founder of Nerd Nite, Phil Moore, former host of
Nick Arcade. Our panelists explore the fame of superheroes and how that
popularity is integrated into everyday life. Moderated by Matt Reinstetle
