Scores of Great Reasons to Come to Key Largo and Islamorada!
Culinary and “how-to” cooking events pair the flavorful tastes of two Upper Keys areas together during Uncorked: the Key Largo and Islamorada Food and Wine Festival. The 10-day food, wine and spirits celebration features 30-plus sensory events at Upper Keys venues. Festival highlights include Lobsterfest at Key Largo Fisheries Backyard Café on Friday, with every-which-way lobster paired with wines, and the Keys’ version of the popular television cooking show “Chopped” returning Sunday. New this year is a Spanish-themed evening with celebrity guest Chef Norman Van Aken, accentuated by a flamenco show and a Dine-in-the-Dark experience with a five-course tapas menu. Multiple Sunday brunch opportunities also are planned, as are several art-inspired food and wine events. A junior chocolatiers’ cooking class as well as an adults’ Cabernet-Meets-Chocolate event are each to be held at Key Largo Chocolates.
Come on down to the Keys and enjoy all of the tasty temptations, and some of your favorite wines, as South Florida’s culinary experts step up to the plate to show you what Key Largo and Islamorada have to offer. Ten glorious days of wine tasting events, cooking demonstrations, wine dinners, live music, food and wine pairing classes, progressive wine dinners, art and wine shows, and of course, our fabulous sunsets, scuba diving, fishing, many tourist attractions, shopping, and a great time!
The Festival Finale is scheduled for Saturday January 17th, the Grand Tasting is a multi-sensory experience not to be missed. Area restaurants and wine experts come together to present samples of their finest cuisine and world-class wines. Live music, celebrity chef appearances and cooking demos combine to serve up the recipe for a spectacular afternoon of tasting in the fabulous Florida Keys.
‘Uncorked,’ the Key Largo Food and Wine Festival, and the fabulous restaurants of Islamorada and Key Largo present a culinary extravaganza in a fabulous Grand Tasting event scheduled for Saturday January 17, 2015 from 11am to 4pm. The event will be held right by the ocean on the beautiful grounds of the Holiday Isle at the Postcard Inn mile marker 84 (approx. 90 minutes from MIA).
The ‘Grand Tasting Finale’ will feature gourmet and specialty tastings from numerous area restaurants and caterers that will be complemented by visiting wineries from across the US offering wine selections from around the Globe. This gourmet extravaganza staged with the backdrop setting of the gorgeous Atlantic Ocean is designed to reflect the individual flair of the many participating restaurants and the unique and eclectic cuisine of the Florida Keys. There will be multiple entertainment areas featuring live music, as well as gourmet chefs presenting cooking classes and of course wine & spirits experts will be on hand to impart their knowledge in seminars throughout the day.
Tickets for the Grand Tasting are $60 plus tax for general admission (12 noon) and $80 plus tax for VIP ticket (entry at 11am and VIP hour 11am till noon).The VIP ticket includes early entry at 11am, VIP parking and some very special tastings during the VIP hour from 11am till 12noon. VIP’s will also receive a festival t-shirt, VIP bag with cookbook and festival wine glass.
